AFTERCARE ADVICE - REFLEXOLOGY/EAR CANDLING/COLOUR THERAPY
After the treatment, it is adviseable to:
- remain seated for a few minutes and get up with care as some people experience light-headedness
following a treatment
- drink more water for the next 24 hours (this helps with elimination)
- avoid stimulants, alcohol or caffeinated drinks for at least 12 hours (preferably
24 hours)
- cut out smoking (now is a good time to stop - smokers stop every time they sleep
so it’s easier than you think! Therapies such as NLP, hypnosis and acupuncture can
help)
- eat light meals rather than heavy ones for the next 24 hours
- if you will be driving or working then have the window slightly open to ensure you
get lots of fresh air to keep you alert
- take as much rest as you can over the next 24 hours and relax (if you can have a
nap then do so)
- only do light exercise for the next 24 hours
- do not go swimming for 12 hours if you have had Ear Candling
Side Effects (Contra-actions)
Some clients may experience emotional release during or following treatment e.g.
laughing/giggling (and no, reflexology is NOT ticklish!) or crying. Also, mild cold-like
symptoms such as aching and a runny nose may appear for next 24 hours following treatment,
along with the possibility of more frequent urination and/or bowel movements. Some
people may feel more tired (most people report that they have a really deep sleep
the night following a treatment).

After the treatment, it is adviseable to:

- if you have been given an Indian Head Massage with oil, then it is best to leave
the oil on for at least 12 hours to allow it to be absorbed (use a towel on your
pillows to stop the oil going through). For washing oiled hair, first apply your
shampoo onto the hair, and then the water and then shampoo as normal.
- if you have received Aromatherapy please do not use other products on your skin as
they may interact, until you have washed.
- please leave on aromatherapy essential oils on for at least 12 hours as this maximises
their benefits.
- avoid sunlight if you have received a citrus type essential oil as they are photosensitising.
