Aromatherapy & Essential Oils

Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils from plants to bring about wellbeing.  I  have been using essential oils for almost 30 years and I am also a qualified aromatherapist.  I offer aromatherapy classes and consultations on how to add essential oils into your life.  

There are two main ways in which essential oils are absorbed into the body:

1. Topically, through the skin, and usually diluted with a massage carrier oil.  Holistic massage on your body with aromatherapy products can really bring about deep relaxation. It is also possible to use aromatherapy to aid a relaxing facial massage that works on your sinuses and facial muscles.  

2. Through inhalation via diffusion through the nose where they are absorbed through lungs into the bloodstream.  It is believed that the oils stimulate the limbic system of the brain. The limbic system controls emotions and influences the nervous system and hormones. Inhalation of essential oils transmits messages to the limbic system which affects stress levels, memory and emotional states.  This can affect wellbeing.

Essential oils are a concentrated part of plants yet they are potent helpers.  I am always amazed the more I learn about plants and in particular herbs.  I originally started training in herbalism/herbology and still carry this passion through in my personal life.
