Reflexology 2

Massage Medium

I utilise a beeswax-based reflexology balm or corn starch.  I do not use talc (as this is now understood to be a carcinogen).

What will my Reflexology treatment involve?

The first session, which will take about an hour will include a consultation to:

a) take your medical history and lifestyle and

b) the reflexology treatment itself combined with foot massage.

I will need to know about certain health conditions which may affect how I give the Reflexology treatment to you and in particular any cautions or contraindications.

Reflexology is very non-intrusive. All that you will be asked to remove are your shoes and socks - the rest of your clothes stay on. You lie down on a recliner or couch or sit down with your feet up on a foot stool so that I can access your feet. I ask that on the day of your session you wash your feet with your regular cleanser and water, although they will also receive a cleansing as part of your pre-treatment.  It is important that I see your feet without them having had a polish and pedicure so that I can observe any areas of imbalance (in other words don’t go sloughing off the dead skin out of embarrassment on the first session because to a Reflexologist this is very revealing about any underlying issues).  If your feet cannot be treated then I may be able to give you Hand Reflexology instead.

I will observe and discuss any obvious imbalanced reflexes.  I will then work on your  reflexes using special techniques with my thumbs, fingers and hands. Your feet may feel sore and tender if I find an area that is out of balance but this discomfort will be fleeting as I rebalance. Some clients feel very relaxed during the treatment (although it is ideal to remain awake so that we can discuss and react to what I am finding). I will ensure that you are as comfortable as possible. At the end of the Reflexology treatment I will once again give your feet another gentle and relaxing foot massage. You will also be given aftercare advice.
