Covid19 Measures - PLEASE READ THIS IMPORTANT INFORMATION (NOT CURRENT)

Do not attend your appointment if you have any symptoms, are unwell or have come into contact with the infection.  If you are unwell before your appointment please contact me as early as possible by text or phone on 07423 019459. Please ensure that you have received a reply from me confirming I have received your message. If you do not hear back from me please call again as I may not have received your message.
How I am keeping you safe

I have completed a Risk Assessment  for complementary healthcare close contact work. The following information outlines:

  • the measures which have been put in place to mitigate the risks

  • the adaptations to practice

  • the procedures which I as a therapist will utilise.

As this is a novel virus and the guidance keeps evolving, I review these procedures on a frequent basis to ensure that they continue to minimise the risks. The information in this will also be reviewed in line with government guidance and advice from professional bodies.  Last update - March 2024

I have a duty of care to have measures in place to reduce the risk of transmission for:

  • Myself and other practitioners  – to ensure that I respect a safe working environment and to follow and have procedures in place which will minimise the risks for those working in the clinic.

  • Clients – to provide a safe environment and follow safe guidance which clients feel confident to come in to.

  • Other people such as the loved ones of my other clients and my own family, especially those who are extremely clinically vulnerable.

The WHO states:

“Data from published epidemiology and virologic studies provide evidence that COVID-19 is primarily transmitted from symptomatic people to others who are in close contact through respiratory droplets, by direct contact with infected persons, or by contact with contaminated objects and surfaces...The risks of getting COVID-19 are higher in crowded and inadequately ventilated spaces where infected people spend long periods of time together in close proximity. These environments are where the virus appears to spread by respiratory droplets or aerosols more efficiently, so taking precautions is even more important."

Appointment System for Hands On/In Person Therapies

The appointment system enables the clinic to record which practitioners are in on which days as well as the clients. All appointments are to be pre-booked.

New client in person appointments start with:

  • an initial consultation by phone  (to maximise our time in person for hands on therapy) prior to the appointment.

Then for clients who have had their consultation and existing clients:

  • your in person appointment will be booked in.

If you think you may have covid and feel unwell with covid like symptoms then:

  • Please ** do NOT ** attend your hands on treatment

  • Call me asap on 07423 019459 so we can reschedule (this will be a minimum of 7 days later)

  • Please follow the government guidance.

The symptoms of Coronavirus as stated by www.nhs.uk are:

  • a high temperature above  (≥37.8C or 100F) – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back

  • a new, continuous cough or worsening cough if you usually have a cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours

  • loss of taste and smell (anosmia)

CLEANING & HYGIENE PRECAUTIONS
  • Frequent handwashing - please wash your hands upon arrival at the clinic.

  • Please bring your own MASK with you if you wish to wear one.

  • If you wish me to wear a mask please inform me. I still wear a mask for massage but not reflexology.

  • I wash my hands thoroughly, up to my elbows, before and after every treatment (there are washbasins in each treatment room as well as hand sanitiser) and also as and when any hygiene need arises during a treatment.

  • Regular daily and weekly cleaning procedures of all contact surfaces are already in place. However, additional cleaning procedures are in place for both the therapy rooms and entry area which includes using disinfectant before and after each patient.

  • Couches, pillows and bolsters are all wipeable and will be cleaned after every client with disinfectant.

  • I have always cleaned and disinfected after clients and always use fresh linens for each and every client.    Used linens will be placed in a lidded box and removed safely from the premises and washed accordingly.  The box is then wiped out with disinfectant.

  • The bin in the treatment room has a lid.

  • The clinic building is well ventilated during opening times.  Windows will be open in the clinic rooms during treatments to ensure good airflow.

  • 15 minutes is left between patients to ensure proper cleaning and ventilation.

  • If I develop symptoms then I will cancel appointments.
