Scar Tissue

Last night I went to a lovely sound bath circle with some Cheshire-based birth and post natal practitioners including pregnancy yoga and doulas.

We had a little discussion about scar tissue relating to caesarean sections. There are several practitioners in PBY Cheshire, myself included, who do work for scars.

Scars themselves don't get magically removed as scar tissue is there to plug a hole. However, what we can do is work on the structures around it and teach our clients how to do some self care.

Scars cause a reduction in elasticity and plasticity. This impacts how the surrounding tissue behaves. If the scar itself is firm, and filled with fibrotic tissue this means it can snag and pull around it so it can not stretch, move and be flexible. I do my utmost to help with this because the scar needs to stay and do its job but if we can stop the scar from clutching so much around it then the non-scar tissue can return to behaving more normally.
